First-visit checklist
Print this, or screenshot it. It carries the questions from our joining guide in tick-box form — plus the two things people always forget.
Before you go
- Called or emailed ahead — I am expected
- Confirmed: beginners welcome at this session
- Confirmed: loaner rifle available (do not buy gear yet)
- Asked the first-visit cost
- Asked what to wear (closed-toe shoes, weather)
Bring
- Safety glasses (or ask if they have spares)
- Water / snack for a 2–3 hour session
- Small notebook — first targets are worth keeping
- Cash or check for guest fees where required
Ask on the line
- Which distance / discipline do beginners start at?
- Who is the range officer, and where do I ask questions?
- What are the eye-protection rules for spectators too?
- What happens next if I want to continue?
Before joining
- Full first-year cost written down (initiation + dues + work hours)
- Guest policy and shooting hours in writing
- Air rifle shot on dedicated nights / distances — confirmed
- Minimum-age and supervision rules understood
Remember: your range officer's instructions are the final authority on any range. This checklist is orientation, not safety training.
